Richard Armendariz is entering his first season as SAMOHI’S Junior Varsity head coach. His 2nd hear overall with the program, serving as pitching coach with Varsity team last season. He will be joined by his brother Ramon Armendariz on the coaching staff. Graduated from SAMOHI ('91) and played 2 years on the Varsity level and was selected All-Bay League 1991. Attended and played baseball at Santa Monica College 92’/93’, earning an honorable mention all-Western State conference both years.
Born and raised in Santa Monica along with his lovely wife Analisa (SAMO c/o 93’) of 16 years. They have 3 beautiful daughters, Amanda, who is currently a sophomore at SAMO, Ashley and Ava. His hobbies include camping, spending time with his family/friends and watching all types of sports. |

Ramon Armendariz, Jr. is entering his first hear as assistant coach at the Junior Varsity level. He played baseball and graduated SAMOHI in 1990. Attend and played baseball at Santa Monica College from ’91-’93 earing the Art Rodrigues Award for tenacity. Born and raised in Santa Monica Playing his ball at Los Amigo’s Park. Attended The Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School for Profession Baseball in 1995. Umpired pro ball in the minor leagues for 13 years reaching the Major Leagues as a reserve from 04’-07’ he umpired 1st base for Greg Maddux’s 299 career win with against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Arizona League (Rookie), Northwest League (Single-A), Midwest league (Single-A), California League (Single-A), Texas League (Double-A), Pacific Coast League (Triple-A), Arizona Fall League, Dominican Republic Winter League, Venezuela Winter League, the inaugural World Baseball Classis 2006 in Tokyo, Japan and Anaheim, CA. Taiwan’s (Chinese Professional Baseball League) ’08 & 09’. Currently and umpire for the NCAA’s PAC-10 and Western Athletic conferences.
His hobbies include traveling, mariachi music and spending time with his nieces. |

Gavin Marquez is entering his first year as Assistant Coach at the Junior Varsity level. He graduated from SAMOHI in 1991. As a two sport athlete he played Football and Baseball for the mighty Vikings. After high school he enlisted in the United Stages Marine Corps for a 6 year stint. Deploying throughout the Southwest Asia and Middle Eastern territories, spending time in Kuwait and Somalia. During that time Coach Marquez was also a member of the All-Marine Baseball team for 2 years as a pitcher.
Prior to coaching at the his Alma mater, Coach Marquez was at North Venice Little League for the past 6 years coaching 10-12 and 13-16 yr. old boys. |
