Head Freshman Coach Kim

Coach Doug Kim has been with the baseball program for 5 years. While serving as the Freshman Coach in 2005-2006 seasons, before becoming the JV coach for the last 3 years. He has had 16 winning seasons in 4 of those 5 years and looks forward to returning to the Frosh Level this year to help prepare the next group of SAMOHI Vikings.

Besides Coaching Baseball he also is a World History Teacher and a father of 2 sets of twins. He has also been part of the football and basketball programs for the last 5 years. Although he will admit that his favorite job is being a dad.

Freshman Coach Oscar Campos

Oscar Campos a graduate of Santa Monica high in 2001 is now entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Samohi baseball team. Prior to joining the coaching staff at Samohi, Campos was pitching at San Francisco State University from 2008-09. While attending SF State, Campos was voted as a team captain by his teammates, he also lead his team in ERA. Before coming to San Francisco State, Campos pitched at Los Angeles City College for two years where he was named to the all-honorable mentions team in 07.

Campos graduated from San Francisco State in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Management). He also received an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts during his tenure at Los Angeles City College.

Freshman Coach James Cooper
Coach James Cooper (Class of '02) enters his first season coaching at his Alma mater. A two sport athlete when he attended SAMOHI and was a member of the CIF championship football team in 2001. Voted most outstanding league player in football, and All-CIF in baseball. Tied a state record for hitting home runs in seven consecutive games. Attended LMU and played baseball where he was All-WCC honorable mention in 2004 and Student-Athlete of the month for February in 2005. Lifetime batting Ave of .324 in college. Graduated in 2007.

Drafted by the New York Yankees where he spent five seasons winning 3 rings (2005, 2006, & 2008). Last season he played for Hall of Fame player now manager Tim Raines for the Newark Bears in the Atlantic League.
